In late October, Bruce MacEwen searched online for news about the Princeton Club of New York and saw a headline that shocked him: The club was closing “indefinitely.” The management consultant, who had graduated from Princeton in 1976, had been a loyal member since the early ’80s, and he enjoyed having a place to entertain colleagues without wrestling over the check as well as being able to book rooms at reciprocal establishments like the Royal Air Force Club in London.
